HOW ARE YOU?

How are you feeling today? Have you checked in with yourself?

That’s something I’ve been asking myself more than usual. Spending more time at home during this pandemic, has forced me to confront different feelings and thoughts. It’s been freeing, difficult, scary, and comforting at the same time.

I’m learning different ways to check in with myself and being mindful of my thoughts. Asking myself “why do I feel anxious today” or “why am I still upset at that rude person at the grocery store”. When I get specific with my thoughts and emotions, I’m able to process with some clarity.

Now when I find myself feeling like I can’t shake off my feelings, I make a note to myself “Give It to God”. It’s reassuring to know I have a copilot that can handle all of my worries but the key is allowing my God to be in the driver seat. I find myself doing this constantly because I want to control the outcome. Human nature right? 

I stumbled on this verse recently:

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

1 Peter 5:7

So friends, be kind to yourself. Talk to yourself. Forgive yourself. Don’t let those emotions and thoughts fester. And when all else fails just “Give It to God” and let him be the driver.
